For the sixth consecutive year, Viox & Viox is proud to award two graduating Lloyd Memorial High School students with $1,000 scholarships through the James H. Viox, Jr. Memorial Scholarship program. Established in 2020 to commemorate the firm’s 75th anniversary, this scholarship honors the legacy of James H. Viox, Jr.—founder of Viox & Viox and a 1934 Lloyd graduate.

This year’s recipients are Duncan Crenshaw and Ghada Lafi!

Duncan Crenshaw will attend Morehead State University to pursue a degree in Astrophysics, with aspirations of a future career in Space Science or Space Engineering with NASA. Duncan serves as the President of the Young Scholars Academy at Northern Kentucky University, where he balances a full college course load and volunteers at events and student panels. At Lloyd, he’s been a dedicated member of the varsity basketball team since his freshman year and now leads as a captain, modeling excellence on and off the court. Duncan also gives campus tours and supports major events as a Presidential Ambassador at NKU. Outside of school, he works at Sky Zone and Ford’s Garage, gaining valuable customer service and leadership experience.

Ghada Lafi will attend Northern Kentucky University, with plans to complete a four-year degree and then attend law school to pursue a career in immigration law. A driven leader and advocate, Ghada has served on the student council for four years and is the current Senior Class President. In this role, she represents the student body on the school board, helps plan events and assemblies, and promotes inclusion and diversity within the school. She’s also been a peer tutor for three years and a four-year Youth Ambassador, where she advocates for mental health awareness and drug-free initiatives like Red Ribbon Week and Prom Promise. Ghada is a three-year member of the National Honor Society and also bowled for 1 year. She works with the YMCA’s after-school program at Miles Elementary, a position she earned after a year of volunteering.
We are inspired by these outstanding students and their commitment to excellence, leadership, and service. Congratulations to Duncan and Ghada as they begin this exciting next chapter—we can’t wait to see all that you accomplish!
