At Viox & Viox, we take pride in our team’s dedication to both professional excellence and community engagement. One of the many examples of that commitment is Nate Adams, PLA, a Landscape Architect on our team who also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP). His work in Landscape Architecture Education reflects our belief that teaching and practice go hand in hand.

Nate teaches Landscape Architecture Colloquium I, a graduate-level course that introduces students to research methods, data visualization, and theoretical frameworks within the field. The course encourages students to think critically about how data and design intersect, exploring how research can inform real-world landscape architecture practice.
Each week, students engage with scholarly articles and discussions that connect theory to real-world design. The course concludes with a hands-on “mini-simulation” project, using research and the scientific method to explore innovative solutions in Landscape Architecture.
“Teaching what I practice has been a rewarding experience, and I’ve found myself learning alongside my students as the semester unfolds,” says Nate. “The insights they’re gaining highlight the essential role Landscape Architecture plays in shaping our world. Through this course, it’s become even clearer to me why the discipline is recognized as a STEM field—standing firmly at the intersection of design and science.”
For Nate, this teaching role represents a meaningful full-circle moment. A 2019 graduate of UC DAAP’s inaugural Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) class, he played a role in helping the program achieve accreditation in 2023. Now, he’s back in the classroom—this time on the other side—mentoring the next generation of designers and researchers through his passion for Landscape Architecture Education.
At Viox & Viox, we’re proud to support professionals like Nate who extend their expertise beyond the office, inspiring future landscape architects and strengthening the connection between academia and practice. His passion for education reflects the same curiosity and innovation that drive our work every day.
