Viox & Viox is proud to partner with the City of Silver Grove on the completion of KY Route 8 Sidewalk —an upgrade that brings safer, more accessible, and more functional infrastructure to a well-traveled neighborhood corridor. What began as a sidewalk replacement project became a coordinated effort to address long-standing issues that had been affecting residents for years.
KY Route 8 Sidewalk Improvements
This phase replaced deteriorated sidewalks and curbs with a new 5-foot-wide sidewalk and added a widened parking lane to better accommodate cars along the narrow roadway. These improvements also helped resolve several persistent concerns, including:
- Narrow parking conditions
- Water ponding and winter ice on sidewalks
- Drainage issues in yards and homes
- Sidewalk trip hazards and ADA conflicts
With improved grading and a more intentional layout, the corridor now performs more reliably through all seasons—making it easier and safer for residents to move through their neighborhood.
Viox & Viox’s Comprehensive Role
Our team guided the city from initial planning through project completion, providing:
- Grant administration
- Data collection & design development
- Right-of-way documents and acquisition oversight
- SD1 cost-share funding application
- Construction drawings & specifications
- LPA approvals & bidding coordination
- Full construction administration
Because this was a grant-funded project, the process required patience and persistence. Over nearly seven years, Viox & Viox consistently updated council and advanced each step until construction could finally begin. Seeing the completed improvements made the journey worthwhile, offering residents a safer place to park, walk, and access their homes.
In the end, it was worth it, seeing the residents along Route 8 now having a much safer place to park and walk.
