Viox & Viox worked with the City of Wilder to create a long-term master plan for the city’s parks and recreation within the City Center District. The existing City Center includes two city-owned parks; Veteran’s Memorial Park and Frederick’s Landing. In 2019, Viox & Viox was part of the team that created a comprehensive plan for the city entitled “Growing Wilder – Envisioning Tomorrow”. This document explicitly stated that the Wilder Parks Master Plan recommendations “should be considered to be directly related to success of new development within the City Center District.”
During the park master planning process, a project was occurring in the heart of the City Center District to design and construct a new fire station adjacent to the existing City Building and Veteran’s Memorial park. The Viox & Viox team worked to develop a master plan for the park, which was renamed City Center Community Park. The master plan for the City Center Community Park includes a fire station themed playground with poured in place surfacing, a splash pad, a concession and restroom building, sport court, sand volleyball, a shelter, landscaping, lighting, and a great lawn for public gatherings.
The master plan also considered improved amenities at Frederick’s Landing Park, which was split into two sections (North and South). Highlights from the plan in Frederick’s Landing North include Greenway Trail system trail head, public parking, renovated docks for river access and fishing, boat house, and pedestrian bridge connecting to Frederick’s Landing South. The master plan includes the following in Frederick’s Landing South: amphitheater, restrooms, playground, a shelter, a greenway river overlook deck, and a boat ramp.
The Wilder Parks Master Plan also includes conceptual designs for a Greenway Trail System, a new veterans memorial area, a new baseball field, and potential City Center economic development lots along Licking Pike.
