about Dream Street Fire Station #34
Viox & Viox provided full civil site design, land surveying, and landscape architecture services for the new Dream Street Fire Station #34, located on a 3.5-acre site in Florence, Kentucky. This $12 million public safety facility replaces a former hotel site and enhances emergency response capabilities for the growing community.
Viox & Viox worked with the City of Florence and a team of consultants including KZF Design, Mark Spaulding Construction Company, Global Business Solutions, and UES to bring the new Florence fire station to life. Our firm was responsible for all external site design components, including grading, stormwater management, utility layout, and landscaping.
The site posed development challenges due to steep topography. Two large concrete retaining walls were needed, and the storm sewer and surface drainage systems required tight tolerances and precise design. Our team provided detailed construction documents and ongoing construction administration to support successful implementation from 2022 to 2025.
This project required more in-depth problem solving during construction than a typical municipal infrastructure project due to the inherent complexity of a building site verses a simple roadway or utility infrastructure. It was rewarding for our team to support the City of Florence in overcoming complex site constraints to deliver a critical public service facility.
