about mall road reconstruction

Viox & Viox was the lead design firm on all phases of the Mall Road Reconstruction project. This project included traffic flow improvements, new signage, sidewalks, beautification elements, lighting, gateways, plantings, and bioswale stormwater management. Phases 1 and 2 of the Mall Road Reconstruction was completed over two years.

The Mall Road reconstruction was such a success that it spurred additional large-scale retail and commercial developments and redevelopments within the corridor. Florence worked with development partners to build Heights Boulevard to accommodate new commercial growth. Viox & Viox provided full design services for the roadway and drainage improvements on Heights Blvd., including storm water detention basin, water quality improvements, highway culvert extension, open bottom creek crossing culvert, and floodplain modeling and permitting.

In 2017, the City of Florence requested a traffic analysis of the Mall Road Corridor. Viox & Viox partnered with SHA Engineering to perform a full corridor study on Mall Road from KY 18 to US 42. This study recommended several upgrades including lengthening turn lanes, adding traffic lights, and realigning intersections.
